James Leslie Johnson, 84, passed away January 6, 2021 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Burleson Memorial Cemetery.
James was born October 2, 1936 in Burleson, Texas to Leslie and Maudie Johnson. He grew up in Burleson and graduated from Burleson High School. After graduation, he began working for the USPS as a rural mail carrier and retired after 37 years of service.
He served as a School Board Election Judge for 25 years, and served as the Republican Election Judge in Sand Flat, Texas for four terms. He was also elected State Secretary of the Treasury for the Postal Service.
James married Charlotte April 2, 1973 in Burleson, and they were happily married for 48 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Burleson. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sons, Mark Johnson and wife, Amy, Jerry Martin, and Jeff Martin and wife, Rhonda; grandsons, Christopher Johnson, Latisha McCory, and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Anne-Marie and Elizabeth McCory.
