James Carlton Jones was born to Sylvester and Dorothy (Johnson) Jones on August 31, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away on August 5, 2022 in Crowley, Texas. James attended Douglas Elementary and Phyllis Wheatley High School. James married Ruby Mae Creeks in 1965. They had with one daughter, Christina Rene Foley, who affectionately called him Petey. He also helped raised Ruby’s daughter Deirdre (DeeDee) Martin.
James worked for American Airlines for 20 years, retiring in 1985. During this time he maître d’ed at both Canyon Creek Country Club and Turtle Creek Country Club. He then worked several more years in Apartment Maintenance and Property Management, retiring for good in 2005.
James was married to Peggy Thieman (Corliss) in 1993. They continued to live in San Antonio, until moving to Burleson in 2020.
James is predeceased by his parents and sister, Vanessa Jones. He is survived by his wife Peggy of Burleson, TX; daughters Christina Foley of San Antonio and Deirdre Martin of Dallas; grandson Todd Foley, his wife Erica and daughter Layla; granddaughter Shanice Foley and her daughter Danika James Free all of San Antonio. He is also survived by his brother Maurice Jones and wife Beverly of Houston, Texas and niece Dionne Malone (Mark) of Indiana. Additional survivors include his step children and grandchildren: Greg Thieman, Lynette Johnston (Roger), Teresa Seville (Kenneth), Stephanie Mendiola, Vincent Mendiola, Kenneth Joshua Seville (Veronica), Kellie Villafana (Carlos), Amber Lubben and Brittany Thieman. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson who proudly called him Grandpa and Papa James.
Memorial Services will be held at Lucas-Blessing Funeral Home in Burleson, Texas on August 10 at 11:00 AM and Lewis and Sons Funeral home in San Antonio on August 13th at 11:00 AM.
