James A. Jones, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on January 20, 2024 at the age of 81. James was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie Wright Jones and Aaron Arlington Jones, as well as his sister Anna Ford. He is survived by his wife, Mavis Cheetham Jones; his children, Christie Jones, Aaron Jones, Katie Woolbright and her husband Paul; and grandchildren, Dean, Cash, Heidi, and Clara Woolbright.
James was born in Cleburne, Texas and raised in Fort Worth, attending Trimble Tech High School, where he graduated in 1960. He served in the Army for six years and joined the Fort Worth Fire Department, where he would work for 30 years before retiring in 1993. He also received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Texas Wesleyan University in 1978.
He married his wife, Mavis, in 1978, and they remained married for 45 years before his passing. James loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his family and friends, working out, metal detecting at the lake, trips to Colorado, Willie Nelson, Christmas movies, and watching the Texas Longhorns.
A funeral will be held on Friday, January 26th, at 10:00 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, TX 76053.
