James William Lorimer, 83, of Southlake, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, surrounded by his family. During his illness, he was lovingly cared for by his wife of 55 years, Paula Lorimer.
James “Jimmy” Lorimer was born in Corsicana, Texas on November 18, 1939. He was the only child of James and Estelle Lorimer. Raised just a block away from his grandmother(2Mama), Jimmy had such a special relationship with her and shared countless memories and stories of his shenanigans with all the cousins who would gather at 2Mama’s house for holidays and special occasions. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1958 where he played football and excelled at track. Jimmy attended Navarro Jr. College and then served in the Army from 1962 to 1968. After Jimmy moved to Dallas, Texas, he met the love of his life, Paula, and they married on August 3, 1968. Jimmy worked in various manufacturing and construction jobs throughout his career in addition to always making time to coach his sons’ sporting teams.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, James and Estelle Lorimer and son, James W. Lorimer, Jr. Also, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linnie D. Pugh (2Mama) and William and Harriet Lorimer; aunt, Dorothy McNally (Frank) and uncles, Robert Pugh (Norma) and Billy Pugh (Margie); special cousins, Lynn Pugh Remadna and Mary Murphy and lifelong friend, Jerry Peebles. He is survived by his wife, Paula Lorimer; son, Ryan Lorimer (Jody) of Keller; and son, Ross Lorimer (Courtney) of Dripping Springs. He was the Papa/Puma of Caleb Lorimer, Alexandria Lorimer, Luke and Kate Lorimer, and Hannah and Nathan Lorimer. Jimmy is also survived by his beloved four-legged sidekick, Stella.
Known as the man who could fix anything, Jimmy was never too busy to help a neighbor or his sons with any problem or project they had. He loved boating, especially at Greers Ferry Lake, AR, tinkering around in his shed and when he retired, shopping for just about anything. Jimmy also enjoyed the “jeeping” trips to Colorado he experienced with Ryan and Caleb and he enjoyed traveling with Paula and they went on many excursions with their longtime friends, Goldie and Jimmy Vaughn.
A celebration of life service will be held at Lucas Funeral Home of Keller, TX on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 10 am.
