With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. James Edward Maxwell, a revered member of the Crowley community, who departed this world on October 3, 2024. Born on September 17, 1925, Mr. Maxwell led a life of distinction and service to others.
Mr. Maxwell devoted his post-war years to his family and community, serving in various capacities on the Keller School Board, water board, and as a dedicated volunteer firefighter. A veteran of World War II, he bravely served as an electrician on the USS Bang submarine in the Pacific. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at UT Arlington, solidifying his commitment to self-improvement and lifelong learning. His entire grade school was spent at Keller ISD.
A man of deep faith and strong moral compass, James was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, where he notably held the position of Worshipful Master 64 & 65. His dedication to the craft and service to his fellow brethren was exemplary.
In his leisure time, Mr. Maxwell found solace in woodworking, fishing, and dancing, hobbies that brought him immense joy and relaxation. His genuine passion for life and unwavering devotion to his loved ones will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
James is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers & 4 sisters, his first wife Joyce and their son Larry, his daughter Lana, son-in-law Wayne, and granddaughter Wende.
James Maxwell is survived by his beloved wife Doris Willey of Crowley, Texas, his son Steve and daughter-in-law Elaine of Kalispell, Montana, his step-daughter Doris Ann Godfrey of Crowley, Texas, his daughter-in-law Bobbie of North Richland Hills, Texas, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren who were the light of his life.
May his memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
