James Paul "JP" Morton of Keller, TX passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022 at age 85 after a short illness.
JP was born in Marshall, TX on Nov 29, 1937, to Estelle and Claude Morton. He grew up and graduated high school in Marshall then went on to get a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1960. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for over 30 years, retiring in 1992, but his true calling was his art. JP was widely known initially for his metal artwork and then for his driftwood bird carvings.
JP was preceded in death by his parents Estelle and Claude Morton, his brother John Ed Morton, and his sister Judy Morton Barron. He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Anna Louise Morton of Keller, sister Claudette Morton of Lubbock, his children James Morton of North Richland Hills, Danny Morton and wife Deidra of Montague, Melanie Gill and husband Charles of Cleburne, and Robert Morton and wife Angela of Keller along with beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller on December 6th from 6:00-8:00 PM and a Chapel Service on December 7th at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the Tarrant Area Food Bank or your local animal shelter as JP loved his rescued dog Ginger and spent many happy hours walking with her through the parks in Keller.
