James Stewart Murray, of Roanoke, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 17. He was 60 years old.
James was born in Brockton, Massachusetts and grew up in Bradfordwoods, Pennsylvania. He graduated from North Allegheny High School, class of 1975, after which he attended Meredith Manor Equine College in Waverly, West Virginia. He earned five degrees in Horsemanship, and for nearly a decade worked successfully as a professional horseman, training cutting horses in Colorado and Texas. A serious riding injury forced James to pursue a new career in the mid-1980’s. He most recently worked in a senior sales role with Taylor Communications, Inc.
In 1985 James met and married the love of his life, Christy, a flight attendant for American Airlines. James was a generous and loving husband and father to Jamie Murray and his wife, Paige, of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Cody Murray, of Fort Worth, Texas. James loved his family beyond words. James was the king of his castle, where he enjoyed yard work, backyard activities and neighbors. Friends and family were the focal point of every weekend of his life. James was witty and handsome; a best friend to many and a great brother to David, Scott and Craig.
James is survived by his wife, Christy, and their children, Jamie and daughter-in-law Paige Murray, and Cody Murray; his brother, Scott Murray, and nephews Jameson, Andrew and niece Kacie; his brother, Craig Murray, and sister-in-law Sandi, nephews Quinn, Cole and Brooks; his niece Dana Shin and nephew Eric Murray; his brother- and sister-in-law J.D. and Vaunda Kennard, and nephew J.J..
James was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Barbara Murray, and by his oldest brother, David Murray.
An Open House, which will be a celebration of James’ life, will be held at the home of Jamie and Paige Murray:
