Jim Jr. graduated from Eastern Academy High School in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War and proudly served four years in Lighter-than-Air Aviation. While attaining the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class, he patrolled endless miles of ocean and developed a life-long love of the water. Jim's experience in the Naval Air Division naturally led to his seeking employment with American Airlines. He retired in 1995, following nearly 40 years with the airlines.
Jim was drawn to water at an early age, growing up on the Saddle River in Garfield, NJ. He enjoyed boating and water skiing with his boys on Lake Hopatcong, cruising up and down the Hudson River, and deep-sea fishing. His favorite vacations included trips to the Jersey Shore and several islands in the Caribbean. He enjoyed an occasional round of golf with friends and family.
Jim especially loved to visit his sons wherever they were stationed during their military careers. His travel included multiple trips to Germany, England, Alaska, Hawaii and Air Force bases across the U.S.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Helen, of 62 years, and his three sons, Major General (retired) James N. Post III and wife Susan of Fort Worth, TX; Major (retired) Ken Post and his wife Kim of North Richland Hills, TX, and Master Chief Petty Officer (retired) Kevin Post and wife Tamara of Freehold, NJ. He leaves behind one sister, Mrs. Lorraine Breur, and her husband, Roger, of Barnegat, NJ. Jim and Helen have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
