Fort Worth, Texas. James Frank “Jimmy” Tolbert, 81, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
Graveside Service: 1 pm on Wednesday, January 20, at Nevada Community Cemetery, in Nevada, Texas. Flower arrangements can be sent to Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main St, Keller, TX 76248.
Jimmy was born to Frank Hubert and Vela Merle Inman Tolbert on May 4, 1939, in Wichita Falls. The family soon after moved to the Fort Worth area. Jimmy married Bernice “Ann” Adams in 1964 and later earned his BS degree from East Texas State University, graduating in 1967. Jimmy and Ann raised their family of two sons and three daughters in the Fort Worth area.
Jimmy served many roles in his working career including teacher (junior high school Mechanical Drawing and Crafts), assembly line (GM), iron worker, erection crew, sign business, and truck driver. He served several trucking companies and loved being on the road driving from coast to coast enjoying the scenery of our beautiful country. Jimmy became bored during his first attempt at retirement and went back to work adding the role of security guard to his long list of experience. He retired a second time only to find himself working again for his son’s business. Since his third and final retirement, he has enjoyed doting on his dog, Brittany, and spending time with family and friends. He was a regular at Texas Roadhouse where had many friends who will miss his jolly sense of humor.
Jimmy enjoyed life to the fullest. He entered a room with a huge smile and a “ready to party” attitude. With a bounce in his step, and a ready laugh, he always had a joke or a story to tell. There was not a shy bone in his body and he never met a stranger. If he had known a person 15 minutes or 50 years, he could talk endlessly on just about any subject. Jimmy will be missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughters, Lisa Ann Harrison and Patricia Kay Gustin; and one great-grandchild.
Survived by: His daughter, Karen Ashley Colvin; his sons, Adam Wayne Harrison and Daryl Pierce Harrison; his grandchildren, Sydni Colvin, Quintin Colvin, Landon Harrison, Shawn Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Caryn Ann McCardell, James Harrison, Taylor Ann Gustin, and Colton Gustin; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Beryl Ann Turner.
