James "Jim" White was born in Plainview, Texas, on October 4, 1945, and soon after his family moved to Muleshoe, Texas. He excitedly accepted Jesus as his personal savior at the age of 10 and lived the rest of his life with a devout faith. Jim graduated from Sundown High School in 1964, having participated in football, basketball, track and baseball. He received his bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1969 and, as a result of ROTC, he received a Commission in the US Army at the same time. Lieutenant White served his Country on active duty from 1969 until 1971. Jim then began his career in education with Fort Worth ISD, receiving his master's degree in public school administration in 1976. He was ordained a deacon in 1983. He built his own home in East Fort Worth in 1984. Jim was a principal in Mansfield ISD and Fort Worth ISD for many years, retiring from FWISD in 1998 having 29 years in education. He moved to Keller, Texas in 2002, where he worked part-time with Southlake Carroll ISD for 20 years. Two traits stand out among many of his wonderful characteristics: he loved and laughed well. He loved his family so much that he could barely tell them how much he loved them without getting emotional. He proudly attended their events, whether graduations, sports tournaments, church performances, dance recitals, or spelling bees. Another way he showed his love was by fighting through his health conditions. While others would have given up, he kept fighting for their sake. You’ll be hard pressed to find someone who smiled and laughed as much as he did. He lit up the rooms he walked into, whether a living room, a classroom, or a church building. He had an endless list of jokes and brain teasers that brightened the lives of family, friends, and students. And many of you reading this probably were victim to his playful pranks. All in good fun, he was a light in thousands of lives. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Edward White (1980), his mother, Beth Woods White (1997) and his sister, Patty White Jones (2018).
