James Herman "J.H." Wolfe

January 31, 1930 — September 17, 2016

James Herman “Herman” (J.H.) Wolfe, 86, went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2016, after a long and meaningful life.
Herman was born on January 31, 1930, to Homer Alexander and Della Emmaline “Gaston” Wolfe at their home in Boyd, TX. Growing up he had 1 sister, 5 half-sisters and 1 half-brother. He married the love of his life, Nina Vernice Thackerson, on November 5, 1949 in Ft. Worth, TX. They eventually settled in Newark and had 4 strong boys, James Anthony “Tony” Wolfe, Wesley Kelvin Wolfe, Troy Glen Wolfe and Roger Gene Wolfe, and many others whom they treated as their own. And from this love grew 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several folks who adopted Herman and Nina as their parental figures, mentors, grandparents and role models, and all of whom are special to them.
Herman was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Boyd, TX. He was also a retired Ft. Worth Police Officer where he served for 30 years, 13 of which were on vice squad and was officer of the year 2nd Platoon in 1981. During this time he also worked 25 years as a part time security guard for Central Freight Lines. Retirement proved too slow for Herman so he then served 4 years as a Bailiff for the City of Ft. Worth and then 8 more years as a Bailiff for the Tarrant County court system.
James Herman Wolfe passed into eternity on September 17, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nina “Thackerson” Wolfe of Newark, his sisters: Barbara Hightower of Boyd, Joyce Inman of Boyd, Margie Inman of Boyd, Suzanne Lowe of Red Oak and Doris Jolly of Michigan, his son Tony and wife Carolyn “Sewell” Wolfe of Keller, his son Troy and wife Michelle “Finch” Wolfe of Decatur, his son Roger and wife Donna “Traynor” Wolfe of Newark, his Daughter-in-Law Arlene “Ashmore” Wolfe of Newark, his Nephew Lonnie and wife Doll “Roper” Van Schuyver of Newark and numerous other nieces and nephews.
