Forest Hill, TX

James Alan Young, 27, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his home.

James was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and his life span, per the doctors, should have been approximately 4 or 5 years old. But, God had different plans for James’ life and he impacted more people than can be imagined.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1248 W. Hurst Blvd, Hurst, TX 76053. Pastor Jerry Power, Jr. and Dalton Harrison will officiate. Burial: Tomlin Cemetery, 1305 Tomlin Ln., Arlington, TX 76012. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Rd., Hurst, TX 76053.

James was born on September 13, 1996, in Fort Worth. He was a student of the H-E-B Independent School District and although home-bound he graduated National Honor Society in 2015. Each one of his teachers that taught him throughout his school years were at the bottom of the platform when he made his exit in his wheelchair with his diploma.

James was saved on November 8, 2005. James was concerned about anyone needing the Lord as their Savior. His little friend, Chloe Hoffman was at his house playing and James ask her if she knew she would go to heaven. She told him she didn’t want to go to the “other” place and with that James called his Mother and said “Mom, Chloe wants to get saved” – Robin took her Bible and lead Chloe to the Lord.

He loved playing games on his computer and he had every new gadget known to man. He didn’t have any friends as he was bed-bound. One of his physical therapists, Beth Sharp, came to give James therapy during the summer time and she ask if her son, Lyle could come too. That day opened up a friendship that has lasted for 20 years. James started getting on line playing games and developed an on-line friendship with many different people.

Although James’ disease has been heartbreaking, it was also a blessing to so many people. He always loved getting his special “cards” from Ms. Cathy Johnson. She was so faithful in making his day brighter when her cards came to him. And he never failed to thank his Mother for her every day care given to him and respite care given by his Aunt Gail Brown.

James was preceded in death by his dad, James Kelley Young, his great-grandparents, Rob and Ann Welty and Martha Moak.

Survivors: Mother, Robin Ann Moak, sister, Brandy Ann Johnson, grandmother, Cheryl Moak, grandfather, Joe B. Moak, uncle, Joe B. Moak,III (Kami), aunt, Dolores Welty, aunt Gail Brown, uncle, Reggie Welty (Patty), many cousins, and a host of wonderful friends that loved him dearly. He is also survived by his faithful dogs, Lola and Penny.
