Jan Short, age 77, of Electra, Texas, passed away Monday afternoon, February 1, 2016 at William P. Clements Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Electra, Texas, located at 1107 S Bailey Street.
Mrs. Short’s cremation services were entrusted to Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas.
A resident of Electra, Texas, most of her life, she was preceded in death by her parents, Dorris William Jackson and Frances Lorell Hammonds, her brother, Bobby Howell Jackson, and her husband, Roger Neil Short.
Survivors include her daughters, Vickie Joe Gilliam of Vernon, Texas, and Janita Short Monninger of Fort Worth, Texas; her granddaughter, Leigha Balchus, who she raised as a daughter and Bruce Gilbert of Keller, Texas, who she considered as a son. She was grandmother to seven, including Bruce’s two daughters, and great grandmother to seven more.
Her kind heart and generous spirit touched so many throughout her life and that legacy will live on, not only in her own family, but in the lives of countless others who were lucky enough to really get to know her heart. She was Mom, Granny and friend to so many. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
