JANE AUSTIN GUY lost her month-long struggle with traumatic brain injury and Covid-19 on Saturday, January 2nd.
She was born April 2, 1932 in Slaton, TX to Harvey and Joan Austin. Growing up in Lubbock, TX, she graduated from Lubbock High School and attended Texas Technological College before marrying her high school sweetheart, Dorrance Guy. She was a life-long member of Pi Beta Phi. After moving to El Paso, TX in 1962, she volunteered her time and talents with the Junior League, Girls Club, Hospitality Club and Social Order Of the Beauceant, as well as becoming a Queen of Daughters of the Nile Rosetta Temple No. 61. In 1999, Dorrance and Jane moved to Aledo, TX to be close to family.
She loved wearing purple, decorating for the seasons, and watching pictures of her grandchildren and great grandchildren on her digital photo frame. As an excellent seamstress, she created clothes, draperies, and tie quilts throughout the years. She enjoyed her many collections, the most recent being peacock items. Will Ann Brewer, a special friend, made sure that she always had plenty of ambrosia, peanut patties, and fudge.
She was preceded in death by Dorrance H. Guy (husband), Harvey and Joan Bulloch Austin (parents) and John H. Austin (brother). She is survived by 2 daughters, Victoria J. Guy of Denton, TX and Phyllis Dorazio (David J.) of Aledo, TX and 2 granddaughters, Nicole Wolfe (Justin L.) of Aledo, TX and Kristin Emmons (Aaron R.) of Panama City, FL. Her 4 great grandchildren are Austin Emmons, Jalyn Wolfe, Connor Emmons and Morgan Emmons.
A memorial service and interment will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date due to family illnesses with Covid-19. Arrangements are made with Lucas Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Keller, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Daughters of the Nile Foundation, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or a charity of your choice.
