Jane Lakins, 85, a resident of Southlake, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 5, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Col. Charles Lakins with whom she shared 45-years of marriage.
Jane was born in Cleveland, OH on November 25, 1935, daughter of the late Roger W. and Martha J. Thweatt.
Jane grew up living in Richmond, VA and was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She attended the University of Virginia. After attending university, Jane performed administrative work for various governmental services. Jane was an avid lover of animals throughout her years. Through the decades, she fostered nearly 40 dogs and cats with special care needs. She enjoyed taking cruises with her husband. As a wonderful gardener, she took pride in keeping her yard perfectly groomed and maintained. Jane’s family and animals were her pride and joy. She never missed the occasion to make her signature pumpkin pie dish for holidays and special events.
Jane is survived by her son; Jim McKenna and his wife, Annalene of Bedford, TX and her grandson; Logan McKenna of Haltom City, TX.
Funeral Service and interment will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10th at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
