Jane Esther Bushmiller Petrocchi, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on April 12, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, and lived a life filled with love, adventure, and intellectual curiosity.
Jane was a devoted mother to her three children, Linda Petrocchi, Tony Petrocchi (married to Marlene), and Mark Petrocchi (married to Marti). She was a cherished grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Delaney Vegh (married to Hayden), Nicholas Petrocchi (married to Kim), Jessica Petrocchi Toohey (married to Brendan), Eric Petrocchi, Lauren Petrocchi Kenny (married to Michael), Rachel Petrocchi, and Sarah Petrocchi. Jane was also a proud great-grandmother to Willa Toohey (to Brendan and Jessica) and Cameron Kenny (to Michael and Lauren).
Jane's life was a testament to her enduring love and commitment to family. She met the love of her life, Attilio "Till" Petrocchi, while both were students at Boston University. Jane, a brilliant scientist and mathematician, helped tutor Till, a dedicated student attending school on the GI Bill, to understand physics. They married on February 5, 1953, in Boston. Together, they embarked on the lifelong journey that took them to Texas, where Jane worked as a nuclear physicist at General Dynamics in Fort Worth.
Jane was a passionate individual who embraced life. She loved her animals and especially the six golden retrievers that were a big part of her life. She was a curious traveler that loved Italy, Red River, and a dozen other places. Probably her favorite place was the balcony of her condo on South Padre Island.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Till. She is now in a better place, together with the husband she valued and missed dearly. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories, an enduring love that will continue to inspire, and a legacy of kindness and compassion that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a charitable donation to your favorite charity.
The family will hold a private celebration of Jane's life. Jane should rest in peace reunited with Till, knowing that her love will forever remain in the laughter of her family, the beauty of the places she cherished, and the lives she touched along the way. You will be deeply missed and eternally remembered.
With love and gratitude,
The Petrocchi Family
