It is with deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Jan Bowman, 74, of Bedford, Texas. She died peacefully May 1st with her family by her side after a short battle with cancer. Jan was born to the late Bill and Clara Eleanor David, July 28, 1946 in Lawrenceville, Illinois and was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church at an early age. She married the love of her life, Mike Bowman, from Washington, Indiana in 1963. Soon after they married, the young newlyweds relocated to Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Texas where her husband’s relatives lived. Jan is survived by her husband, Mike Bowman and three children, son, Dave, and wife Cindy; daughter, Trisha Smith, and husband Donnie; and son, Jeff. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as her brother, Jack David, and wife Karen; brother, Jim David, and wife Linda; and sister Julia Cañas and husband Jesse; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her dearly.
Jan was a devoted and beloved woman. She embraced her feminine roles with others in godliness. She always placed the needs of others before her own. She was gifted with a supportive and understanding heart, who was always there in good and difficult times. She loved supporting her loved ones, especially her husband Mike, who has been a successful real estate broker in Tarrant County for more than 50 years. Jan also was incredibly grateful for community. After her children were raised, Jan began working at the Doris Kupferle Breast Center in Fort Worth. Having experienced the trauma of breast cancer with her grandmother, mother, and sister, she was passionate about encouraging and helping to support those who suffered with the disease.
Jan was a blessing to so many people because she practiced daily the virtues of faith, love, kindness, and patience. May her memory be for a blessing. May her soul rest in peace through the mercy of God. The family would like to thank all of those who provided quality medical care for her during her battle with cancer as well as the many friends who encouraged, prayed, and supported her during this difficult journey.
