It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Elizabeth Coulter. Born on October 9, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Janet peacefully passed away on May 22, 2024, at her residence in Fort Worth, Texas.
Janet became an ordained Presbyterian Minister in the PCUSA and served as a hospital and hospice chaplain in Houston and Lake Charles for several years. She was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School Class of 1961, later obtaining a degree from the University of the Ozarks in 1986, and pursuing her passion by completing her masters degree at Union Presbyterian Seminary in 1990.
Throughout her life, Janet found joy singing in the church choir at several churches over the years. She took great pleasure in attending her grandchildren's events and celebrations. She became a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys when she moved to Fort Worth in 2013.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving parents and her younger brother, Bobby McCay.
She is survived by her children, Michael Coulter and his wife Brenna, and Kelly Lavelle and her husband Marc. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren and their families: Ashely Gann, her husband Trey, and their children Madison and Anabelle; Kaylie Conlin and her children Fletcher, Quinn, Fallon, and Corbin; Ryan Coulter, Matthew and Ryan Mahacek, and Rowan and Gavin Lavelle.
A woman of faith, determination and conviction, Janet will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. A memorial service in her honor will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home on May 31, 2024, at 5:00 pm, with a subsequent cremation following the service as per her wishes.
In honoring her memory, let us reflect on Janet’s remarkable life and the legacy she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
