Jean Marie Kinney, 65, peacefully passed away at her home in Bedford, Texas on August 26, 2024.
Jean was a caring person who loved art, animals, nature and her friends and family.
She was diagnosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 17. Jean was a vocal champion for others with disabilities. In 1986, she advocated in the Texas Legislature to enable support dogs for the disabled to be allowed in public spaces.
Jean had an artistic soul. She loved being creative with her hands and making gifts for loved ones. In the past decade she found great joy in crafting highly intricate beadwork illustrations of her favorite animals.
Jean was a strong advocate for muscular dystrophy research and exceeded the life expectancy of her diagnosis. Her perseverance in life was an inspiration, and she was very proud to celebrate her 60th birthday with a large party surrounded by family and friends.
She loved animals and nature. Jean deeply cared for the wellbeing of her aides, the women who helped make it possible to live a fulfilling life in her own home.
Her father was always her hero. Jean raised an amazing strong son.
