Jennifer Martz

April 13, 1972 — February 28, 2013

FORT WORTH -- Jennifer Marie Murphy Martz departed the bonds of this earth on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, to soar with the angels and be with God. Her life was one of faith and commitment to God, family, and others, which ended all too soon.

Memorial celebration: 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, First United Methodist Church of Hurst, 521 East Pipeline Road, Hurst.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charles Jorden Youth Missions Scholarship Fund at First UMC Hurst or to the College Scholarship Fund established for her three children (please contact the family for details).

Jennifer was born April 13, 1972, in Charlottesville, Va., to Leonard and Karen Murphy. As a child, she lived in Springfield, Va., near Washington, D.C. In 1983, she moved to North Richland Hills where she excelled in school and was a leader in youth activities at her church, developing lifelong friendships. She graduated with highest honors from Richland High School, obtained a bachelor's degree from Southwestern University and a master's in social work from U.T. Arlington. Jennifer was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity.

Jennifer worked in the social work field and most recently as a substitute teacher in HEBISD, being named Substitute of the Year. She was active in River Trails Elementary PTA serving as president and involved in her children's school and church activities. However, she found her greatest fulfillment and achievement as a mother to three wonderful and talented children. Jennifer had a broad and deep impact on many lives by serving others through church youth mission trips, children's ministries, Thanksgiving Basket Program serving over 1200 families, choir, handbells, and so much more.

Jennifer will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her; there is a void that can never be filled. She made the world a better place and will live on through those she touched.

Survivors: Daughters, Jorden Leigh and Callie Helena, son, Wesley Carlton, and their father, Walter Lee Martz; parents, Leonard and Karen Murphy; brother, Len Murphy Jr.; grandmothers, Frances Haynes Murphy and Betty Jane Jorden; her four sisters of the heart; and many other relatives and friends who loved her.
