Jerrell Wayne Sharp was born in Fort Worth Texas to Wayne Archie and Myrtle Irene Sharp on September 28, 1935. Jerrell had two brothers, Jay Carroll Sharp and Pat DeRoyce Sharp. His family lived in the Fort Worth area for all his formative years. He attended Haslet Elementary school and met the love of his life when he was in the 5th grade, and she was in 3rd. Jerrell and Wanda Gray were girlfriend and boyfriend until high school when they decided that they had found their mate for life. Jerrell and Wanda were married on August 20th, 1955, shortly after Wanda Graduated from high school. They set up their new home in Fort Worth, TX but soon moved to West Texas where Jerrell worked in the Oil Fields, and they began to raise their family. Darrell Wayne, Penny Fay, Tracy Dan, and Gregory Scott were all born 2 ½ - 3 years apart while they lived in West Texas. Jerrell was a member of the Jaycee’s and coached little league during this time as well as being a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Jerrell also served in the National Guard from 1954 – 1963. In 1969 Jerrell moved his family to the Bedford area where they lived for over 50 years. The most important thing to Jerrell was God, Wanda, and his kids. He displayed this throughout his life by always guiding his family to be faithful and working members of the church. During this time, the Sharps’ added to their family with 3 daughters in law, 1 son in law and 14 grandchildren. Those grandchildren have blessed them with 22 great grandchildren that they love greatly. Jerrell retired from Darr Equipment Company in 1994. Shortly after that he began driving a school bus for Grapevine/Colleyville school district and retired from there in 2010. Jerrell and Wanda continued to be a part of the community and their church.
Jerrell was preceded in death by his Father-Wayne Archie Sharp, mother-Myrtle Irene Sharp, brother-Jay Carroll Sharp, Grandson-Jimmy Wayne Sharp, Granddaughter-Leighton Sophie Taylor Skaggs. He is survived by brother-Pat Sharp and wife Tricia, wife-Wanda Gray Sharp, Son-Darrell Sharp and wife Kimberly, Daughter-Penny Skaggs and husband Rick, Son-Tracy Sharp and wife Diana, Son-Gregory Sharp and wife Donielle. Grandchildren – Christopher Skaggs and wife Amy, Sara McCarroll and husband JT, Beth Torbert and husband Chris, Kyle Skaggs and wife Sara, Leigh Ann Sharp, Neely Chapman and husband Nathan, Dale Sharp and wife Ashley, Bruce Sharp and wife Haley. Jarron Sharp and wife Abbie, Samantha Robbins and husband Wesley, Jansen Sharp, Meagan Brewer and husband Jay, Kristen Cawyer and husband Corbin, and Peyton Sharp. Also added to the family are Step Grandchildren; Tyler Rowe and wife Kadi, Brian Rowe and Teresa Rowe, Lisa Wylie and husband Hunter. Also surviving are 22 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
