Jerry Lewis Beeker

September 29, 1940 — June 15, 2016

Jerry Lewis Beeker was born on September 29, 1940 to Lewis and Milly Beeker in Lafayette, Indiana where he grew up participating in various sports, including swimming, baseball and golf. Golf became his favorite and he excelled at it and played in various tournaments all over the United Stares as an amateur. He earned a golf scholarship to Purdue University as well.
After graduation from Purdue in 1963, he enterd the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and was stationed at Ft. Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. He was a Company Commander and also served as Captain of the Ft. Gordon golf team. He completed his military service as a Captain in September, 1965.
He was employed by the E.I. DuPont Company and started his career in Kinston, North Carolina in October, 1965. He also worked in Wilmington, North Carolina, Wilmington, Delaware and Greensboro, North Carolina. He started in the Dacron business, managed the Tyvek business for several years and finished his career as a manager in the Nylon and Lycra businesses and retired at the end of 1998.
In 2004, he and Ann moved to Brooksville, Florida where they enjoyed retirement and Jerry played many rounds of golf until ill health caused him to stop playing in 2015.
Jerry and Ann (Shoemaker) Beeker were married in June of 1964 and have two children, Jeffrey Beeker and Kathryn Lewis. Jeff and his wife Heather have two children, Madison and Mayson. Kathy and her husband Jayson have two children, Nia and Tristin.
Jerry and Ann moved to Texas several weeks ago to be near their children and grandchildren who all live nearby. It was a great blessing to be close to the family during the last days of Jerry's life. He passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016 is now with the Lord Jesus Christ whom he loved. The new address is: 201 Watermere Drive, Apt. 108, Southlake, TX 76092.
A family Memorial Service will be held in Southlake and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at their church in Brooksville, Florida at a later date.
Jerry is survived by his sister Deborah Lee of Windermere, Florida and her husband Mike, one niece, one nephew, two great nieces and three great nephews. His parents and brother, James Lewis Beeker, preceded him in death.
