Obituary for Jerry Don Davidson

Jerry Don Davidson of Keller, Texas departed this life on August 20, 2018 to spend eternity among beloved Relatives and friends. Jerry was born on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1938 in Houston, TX to parents Willie Dean (W.D. “Dub”) Davidson Jr and Mary LaFawn (Jeffers) Davidson. He was preceded in death by brother Bill, wife Joyce and son Jeffrey.
Jerry attended early public school years in Lubbock, TX. He later moved to a central Texas blackland farming community to live with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Davidson and graduated from Granger High School in 1956.
Both brother Bill and Jerry were destined from childhood to become U.S. Marines. Jerry proudly served his country as a U.S. Army paratrooper assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division (America’s Guard of Honor), Ft Bragg, N.C. Brother Bill forgave him for doing so.
Jerry married Sandra Cameron of Bartlett, Texas.
Jerry later returned to the Houston area and would marry the mother of his children, Patricia L. Swift of Pasadena, TX. She preceded him in death. They also lost two sons, J. Monty (1967) and Gavin Grant (2003) which was a trauma Jerry would endure forever.
Jerry earned an AAS degree from San Jacinto Junior College and a BBA degree from the University of Houston. After some 38 years of service in the chemical industry, he retired from Merichem/Merisol LLC in 2001.
Jerry is survived by his dearly loved daughter Sheila R. Davidson and husband Anthony F. Gentry of Keller, TX, aunt and uncle Nell and Lloyd Steger of Taylor. TX, aunt Freida Davidson of Georgetown, TX of Waco, TX and many loving cousins.
Jerry was a member of Community Church of Possum Kingdom Lake, 251 N. FM 2353, Graford, TX.
At Jerry’s request, a brief graveside service will be held on Thursday August 23, 2018 3pm at Granger City Cemetery, Granger, TX.
