Jerry Zachary Hayes was the son of the late William J. Hayes and Willie Belle Hayes. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 22, 1946 and departed this life on November 30, 2019 at the age of 72.
He graduated from McDonough 35 High School and attended Southern University in New Orleans. He retired from Air Products and Chemicals after working twenty-two years as a chemist. He was a devoted husband and loving father who enjoyed bowling, swimming, and gardening.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 52 years (Bernadette Hayes), two daughters (Keila Burns and Kristy Hayes), three grandsons (Evan Burns, Jake Hayes, and Brandon Burns), one son-in-law (Derek Burns), six siblings (Kerry (deceased), Bryan, Bryant, Jacqueline, Robyn, and Kirk), and a host of other family members and friends.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70122
