Jerry Don Thompson, born February 25, 1943, to Roy I. Thompson and Maggie S. Smith of Memphis Texas, passed away March 08, 2023, at his home in Hurst Texas at the age of 80 (with his wife by his side).
Jerry served in the US Army with The Core of Engineers from 1965 through 1977 were he received, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Loops, Expert Rifle Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal with Device, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal (1st Class), Good Conduct Medal with 2 Loops and Good Conduct Medal with 3 Loops.
After leaving the service, Jerry worked in the Petroleum Fuel Industry until he retired in 2003. At the age of 60. In 2003 Jerry started Meter Calibration Service, Inc. in Hurst, TX were he was the owner operator until 2019 at the age of 76. Jerry spent the following years with involved with a men’s group at Bellview Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas.
Jerry Thompson was preceded in Death by his Father Roy I Thompson, Mother Maggie S Smith, Brothers Roy I. Thompson, Jr. and William (Snooks) Thompson, son-In-Law Michael Overby and daughter-In-Law Vonda Denise Thompson.
Jerry is survived by, his wife Judith L Thompson, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Adam Flores of Hurst, TX, daughter, Lanita Overby of Haltom City, Son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Mona Thompson of Weatherford, TX, son, Martin Thompson of Oklahoma City, OK. Grandchildren, Keith Martin, Mathew Chavez, Jerry Thompson, Brandi Calloway, Nycole Thompson, Adam Thompson, Qihmburlae Overstreet. Great grandchildren David Martin, Ryley Chavez, Cerene Chavez, Jerry Thompson, Nathan Thompson, Brooklyn Thompson, Abygail Calloway, Milo Calloway, Dawson Thompson, Paislee Thompson, Keirsten Alejo, Nolan Thompson, William Overstreet, Christine Overstreet, and David Overstreet and sister Norma Ames of Chandler, AZ.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 15, 2023 also at Lucas Funeral Home in the Chapel. Committal service will be held at 10:15 P.M., Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
