Retired Reverend Jerry Venable 78, passed away at his home, surrounded by family on July 31, 2021, after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bonnie Venable, and sister Roberta "Bobbie” Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Melba Venable, sister Wilma Ingle of Clute, Texas; son Mark Venable of Frisco, Texas; daughter Heidi (Mike) Muñoz of Heath, Texas; grandchildren Matthew and Anthony Muñoz; He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Fred Bradley of Van Alstyne, Texas; Scott and Kelly Bradley of Westlake, Texas; Ronnie and Dona Bradley of Granbury, Texas, Dallas and Debbie Bradley of Midland, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was blessed with a loving family. He married his best friend and love of his life, Melba Bradley on February 2, 1962, in Odessa, TX. From the beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospel. He was a kind educator at heart, and always made the time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is completely healed and at peace with his creator. The family would like to give special thanks to Guardian Hospice caregivers for their caring and compassionate ministry for the past seven months.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 9:30am at the I.O.O.F Westlake Cemetery, located at 3101 J T Ottinger Road, Westlake, Texas 7262 with Reverend James Jackson presiding over the service, assisted by Reverend Len McLaughlin.
