Jesusita (Susie) Ortiz, 89, of Hurst passed away on surrounded by her loving family.
Susie, a native of Victoria, TX, born on January 17, 1935, to Catarino and Maria
Canales, passed away peacefully. Susie began her adult life’s journey when she joined
her husband, Del, after his enlistment in the Air Force, dedicating herself as a loving
wife and mother for over 69 years. Susie found joy in cherishing her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, participating in bible studies, and embracing
music and dancing. Most noteworthy was her time spent working in numerous local
church nurseries such as Christ Wesleyan Church and Euless United Methodist
Church. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire those whose lives she
touched.
Susie was preceded in death by her loving husband Del, father Catarino, her mother,
Maria, her sisters Mary Velasquez and Lupe Cantu, her daughter, Susan, and her
grandson, Jude.
Susie will be remembered by her children Diane (Jack McKinney); David (Josephine);
Richard; Edward (Karen); Joseph; Michael (Jennifer).
She will be fondly remembered by her 12 grandchildren, Shannon, Derric, Hannah,
Krystal, Jennifer, Christina, Richard, Josh, Amanda, Mindy, Daniel, and Emily. In
addition, she had 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Mass: Wednesday, May 29, 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bedford
followed by a church reception provided by St. Michael’s Funeral Ministry. Interment will
follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas beginning at 1:30 p.m. Visitation
will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst
with a prayer vigil (Rosary)to begin at 7:00 PM.
