Jimmie Wayne Attaway

Jimmie Wayne Attaway, 81, passed away February 6, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, February 11, at Christ Church Fort Worth. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.
Jimmie was born July 15, 1939 at home in Littlefield, Texas to JP and Beatrice (Jones) Attaway. He was the third of five children Johnny and wife, Margie, Lewis and wife, Dottie, Helen and husband, John, and Linda and husband, Donald. He was married to Nancy Sue Attaway for fifty years. They have two sons, Robert and wife, Adelaida and Shaun and wife, Lisa; eight grandchildren: Cleopatra Ledesma and husband, Bartolo, Isabel Ferrusquia and husband, Reynaldo, Gabriel, Christina, Elizabeth, Briana, Dakota and wife, Brianna, and Isaiah; five great-grandchildren: Isabella, Gabriella, Daniella, Rey Jr., Emmanuel, and baby Leonidas arriving soon. While growing up, his family lived in New York for seven years and he later attended L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas. He had an illustrious military career, serving for six years in the Navy and sixteen years in the Air Force. He retired as a Master Sargent in 1978. After retiring from military service, he and Nancy worked at several children's homes in New York and Texas. Later, he worked at Metroplex Heat Treat and he and Nancy served as missionaries in Guam and South Africa. Upon returning from South Africa in September 2001, they resumed their attendance at Christ Church Fort Worth. Jim enjoyed spending his free time building and flying remote-controlled airplanes, but what he loved most was spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. His retirement years consisted of getting up early every morning (4:00 a.m.), spending time with the love of his life, Nancy, and reading his Bible and praying to our Heavenly Father. Jimmie's life was well-lived. He was a man who displayed godly character and love for all and he is now receiving the gift of eternal life in heaven.
