Jimmy Neil Benge of Burleson, Texas, aged 88, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023 at his home.
Jimmy was born May 4, 1935, in Wyaconda, Missouri to Lenna and Jessie Benge. He attended Wyaconda High School before joining the Navy. Jimmy served 4 years in the US Navy and when he wasn't at sea, he was stationed in Long Beach, CA. He married Dixie Hatfield in 1957. He traveled the world after completing airline school and worked for Braniff Airlines, Air Illinois and Royal Airlines.
Jimmy and Dixie enjoyed their time together by RV Camping; other hobbies he enjoyed included playing golf, board games, puzzles, reading and yard work. He was known for his funny quips and his no-nonsense personality, always there to lend a hand and offer advice.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Jessie and Lenna Benge; in-laws Mason and Lavern Hatfield.
Jimmy is survived by Dixie, his wife of 66 years; one son, David Benge and wife Lynn; grandson Danny and wife Alisha, granddaughters Marissa Dine, Patricia Goodwin and husband Johnathan, Samantha Matherly; 8 great grandchildren and many cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Wyaconda Baptist Church, Wyaconda Christian Church or Wyaconda Cemetery.
