Jim Cole passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home Chapel, 518 S.W. Johnson Ave. Burleson, TX. 76028. Pastor Judy Madden will officiate. Burial will follow at the Tye Cemetery, Burleson, TX. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until service time.
He was born on April 19, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up in a small town in Indiana called Dana. After serving in the Air Force, Jim met the love of his life, Rachel, who he survived by five years. They married in 1970 and moved to Burleson, Texas with their two children Rayleen and Michael. The last job Jim held was as the head of Parks and Recreation for the City of Fort Worth where he helped establish Mayfest and was known as the “Mayfest Man.” During that time, Jim was also an instrumental piece in the development of the Burleson Independent Soccer Association and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Burleson. He is remembered most for his love of whistles, pink lemonade, carpentry, and Johnny Cash. Jim Cole is survived by his daughter, Rayleen Sullivan; son, Michael Cole and his wife Jean; grandsons, Stefan Arias, Garrett Cole and his wife Haylee, Grayson Cole, Jackson Cole, and Jacob Cole.
