Jo-Ann Zimmerman beloved sister, and great friend to many died peacefully on July 9, 2023. Jo-Ann was born on April 9, 1937 in Upshur County Texas. She was surrounded by three brothers, but she was the only daughter of Syble and William J. Zimmerman. Jo-Ann was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gregg Zimmerman and Gene Zimmerman, and survived by her brother Granville and Barbara Zimmerman, with their daughter Ashlea Wiley, Carol and Gene Zimmerman’s children Amy Rork and Steve Zimmerman, and Gregg Scott Zimmerman II.
Her family moved to Fort Worth, Texas from East Texas in the early 1950’s where she attended Technical High School of Fort Worth. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science.
Jo-Ann was very active in her Political Party both local and on the National level. She was lucky to work with, and meet many of our country’s leaders. While she was involved supporting her Party, she met many lifelong friends. She was very proud of her association and work she did for the Nation and State of Texas.
Jo-Ann was always the first one available when any of her family members or friends needed help!
In lieu of flowers, and to celebrate Jo-Ann’s life if you choose, a tree could be planted n Jo-Ann Zimmerman’s memory.
A visitation for Jo-Ann will be held on Sunday, July 16th from 5-7p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park Cemetery Colleyville, Texas.
