Jo Lou Swanson Christensen, 88, was called home to our Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Bedford, Texas.
She was born on July 23, 1933 in Dodson, Louisiana. Her family later moved to Alexandria, Louisiana where she graduated from Bolton High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana College in 1955.
Jo Lou worked for American Airlines for nearly 20 years. She began her career in 1976 within the Flight Service Department supporting the AA Flight Attendants. Over the next 20 years, she held various roles within Flight Attendant Training and Recruitment, Learning Center and Administration, Inflight Services, Marketing Reservations and AAdvantage Domestic Sales.
Jo Lou was a devoted mother, family member and friend. She loved music, playing the piano, traveling anywhere, nurturing all babies, cooking, but most importantly caring for everyone including her family. She was a loyal member of Martin United Methodist Church, Bedford, Texas and loved volunteering and being part of the bell choir, nursery duty and anything asked of her.
She is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Robert Gordon Christensen, her parents, John Henry and Hettie McCann Swanson, her brother Johnny Mack Swanson, her parents-in-law Les and Charlotte Christensen, and brother-in-law Ed Christensen and his wife and sister-in-law Eunice.
She leaves behind to cherish lifelong memories, her children, son John Christensen and his wife Stephanie, and daughter Kim Christensen, grandchildren Jonathan Pierre and his partner Jennie, Jordan Pierre and his partner Drew, one great-grandson, Dominic and his grandfather Keith Pierre, sister-in-law, Vannette Swanson, her children nephew Chris Swanson and his wife Julie, niece Tracy Hassell and her husband Joe Ben, grand-nephews Kyle Hassell and wife Maggie, and Cole Hassell, nephew Scott Christensen, niece Laurie Bartholomew and her husband Brandon along with many other extended family members.
Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas on Tuesday August 31st from 6 PM until 8 PM.
