Joan Tressler DePaola, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Visitation: Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Lucas Funeral Home 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Funeral Mass: Friday, November 10 at 10:00am at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1206 Throckmorton St., Ft. Worth. Burial 12:30pm at Dallas – Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.
Joan was born on April 24, 1935 in Potters Mills, Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Sunbury, Pennsylvania High School as Valedictorian she moved to Rochester, New York and worked at the Home Insurance Company. Joan met Joe in 1954 while he was serving nearby in the U.S. Air Force. They moved to New York City in 1956 and were married there in 1957. They became Texans in 1967 when American Airlines relocated its pilot training facility to Ft. Worth.
Joan was a very considerate, thoughtful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joan was extremely warm and generous to all who crossed her path. Family was the most important thing in Joan’s life.
Joan was very active in community activities serving as a library volunteer at a local elementary school in Hurst, as an officer in their neighborhood association and as a registrar for the Ft. Worth Amateur Hockey Association. Joan was an avid reader, especially mystery novels, an enthusiastic jigsaw puzzle builder, a great cook and an expert needle pointer, even creating her own patterns. Joan loved traveling especially to New York, Hawaii and England. Joan was an active member of St. Patrick Cathedral and looked forward to visiting with friends at Sunday mass services.
Survivors: Beloved husband of 60 years, Joe; beloved son, Michael and beloved daughter-in-law, Sheila; precious grandchildren, Riley and Joseph.
