Joan Erline Halliday

August 14, 1933 — March 20, 2023

Joan Erline Wessel Halliday, 89, of Ft. Worth, Texas passed away on Monday,
March 20 th 2023 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born in Paonia,
Colorado on August 14, 1933, the daughter of the late Ralph B. and Helen E.
(Klausner) Wessel. Joan graduated from Marquette High School in Alton, Illinois in
1951 and later attended UCLA. She married the love of her life, Robert Lee
Halliday, on September 11 th , 1954, and proceeded to have five children in
successive years. Joan lived the Catholic faith her entire life, raising her children in
parochial schools and supporting all the many Churches she attended in her
lifetime. Joan managed and supported the family through the many moves and
transfers of Bob’s career as they made many lifelong friends along the way. From
Kansas to Colorado, Montana and North Carolina and from Texas through Ohio to
South Carolina, and New Mexico, Joan was there to move, set up the new home
location and continue to make the family comfortable with each new move.
Family always came first for Joan and she was happiest when surrounded by
family but she also made time for golf, playing cards and spending time in the
company of her many friends. Her later role in life as “Nanny” well served her
growing family and cemented her legacy as the loving Matriarch of the Halliday
family.

Wessel of Las Cruces, NM, and her five children: Robert M. “Doc” Halliday and
wife, Rene’ of Tompkinsville, KY, Judith Ann and husband Owen Seamands of
