JoAnn Johns

JoAnn Johns, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2024, at the age of 84.

JoAnn was born on October 4,1940 in Achille, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oran Miles Plexco and Willie Mae Malone. She was one of three sisters and grew up in Denison, Texas. In her early twenties, she moved to Dallas to pursue her career. JoAnn worked as a model at the Dallas Apparel Mart, owned her own employment agency, and spent many years in the airline industry, first for Continental Airlines and later Korean Airlines.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Jon Ebbeler, her brother-in-law, Cliff Landon, her nephew, Mike Landon (wife Bonnie), nieces, Kim Bonfield (husband Tom) and Susan Baker (husband Ben), niece-in-law, Anna Shearer, 9 great-nieces and great-nephews and 8 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: John La Chapelle, Gerald Johns and Francis (Buddy) Sherley, her sisters: Luetta Landon and Emma Shearer Low, and her nephew, Tom Shearer.

JoAnn had a true zest for life. She was an animal lover and always had pets. JoAnn was especially fond of her dog, “Muffie” and parrot, “Spike”. She had a generous heart, and she loved to dote on her great nieces and nephews. JoAnn had a wonderful eye for fashion, and she was always the best dressed person in the room. Despite many heartaches, she remained strong in her faith and thankful in her circumstances. She will be deeply missed.

Family Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Friday, April 18th at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst, and will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Restland Cemetery’s Good Shepard area, 13005 Greenville, Avenue, Dallas.
