On Monday, November 18, 2019, Joanna G. Freund, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 84.
“Joanna” to some, “Jo” to others, and “Mama Jo” to many, was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 27, 1935 to Frank and Lena Green. Joanna married the love of her life, Thomas "Tom” C. Freund, on March 28, 1954. Tom and Joanna raised four children while traveling from state to state during Tom’s career as an Air Force pilot. They eventually settled in Fort Worth, Texas, where Joanna answered her calling and became an accountant – a career which she loved. Joanna enjoyed traveling the world with Tom, as well as entertaining family and friends at their home on the lake. Joanna loved people and had a special passion for music, dancing, parties and celebrating with her family and friends. Joanna's favorite song and saying was “Parties Make the World Go Round.” Tom predeceased Joanna on May 3, 2014 after a long and happy marriage of 60 years. No doubt, Joanna and Tom are now dancing and partying together again as they celebrate their heavenly reunion!
Joanna is survived by her four children, Chuck Freund (wife, Valerie Freund), Susan Strode (husband, Ronny Strode), Linda Bull (husband, Alan Bull), and Wendy Elizardo (husband, Eddie Elizardo), her five grandchildren, Stefan Elizardo, Parker Strode, Lane Strode Barr, Gianna Elizardo, and Kellen Freund Johnson, her beloved sister, Rose Arnell Green, and her first great-grandchild, Kansyn Johnson, due Christmas Eve.
A Celebration of Life for Joanna will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas, immediately followed by a reception at Italianni’s Restaurant in Hurst.
