Joanna Ruth Sullivant

Joanna Ruth Sullivant passed away peacefully on September 25, 2020 in Keller, Texas. She was born on November 29, 1930 in Ryan, Oklahoma to Dr. Walter and Eva Marie (Flood) Andreskowsi. The family later moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where she attended Norman public schools and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with an education degree. She worked for a short time as an elementary school teacher before marrying G.W. “Red” Sullivant, a petroleum geologist, in 1952. They lived on Silver Lake in northwest Oklahoma City for more than 40 years.

A homemaker and avid gardener, “Andy” loved raising her two sons, reading, growing perennials, and watching birds and wildlife on the lake. She was an extremely talented seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful quilts and knitted items for friends and family. An active member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Oklahoma City, she participated in outreach programs and volunteered in the church’s charitable thrift shop for many years.

Joanna was preceded in death by her husband G.W. in 1993, brother Theodore Franklin “Frank” Andreskowski and sister Betty Helen Andreskowski. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Michael and Dana Sullivant, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jeanette Sullivant, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by cherished friends for her beautiful smile, compassion for others and love of life.

Interment will take place at the Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City with a private family memorial service at a future date.
