Mr. Cornelius Joseph (Joe) Disselkoen, of Grapevine, TX, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the age of 78.
Joe was born to parents Jack and Laura Disselkoen on May 26, 1938, in Valparaiso, Chile. He grew up the eldest of four children, and moved to the United States at the age of ten. The rest of the Disselkoen family followed in 1951 and moved to El Paso, Texas. Joe attended, and graduated from, Austin High School. He met the love of his life, Jackie Mason, at Hardin Simons University and they married in 1958. In 1960, they had their one child, Jackie Ray.
Joe worked as a construction worker, transportation dispatcher, and then as a flight agent for American Airlines. During a short period of lay-off, he returned to college and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education. He had a passion for travel, and he and his wife Jackie traveled to all corners of the globe. Joe had a full life that he shared with Jackie for a wonderful 58 years.
Joe is survived by his wife, Jackie; his daughter, Jackie Ray Beede and her husband Bruce; three wonderful grandchildren; Ray, Jake, and Russell Beede; and his brother, Anton Disselkoen Pierce and his spouse, Barry Pierce. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jackie Laura Disselkoen.

A memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19 at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine.
