Joe Luna Jr. was born on April 16, 1943, in Danevang TX, Wharton County to Father Joe Luna and Mother Felisitas Rodriguez.
He moved to Dallas TX at the age of 14 and began employment for the Martinez family in their El Fenix restaurant located in downtown Dallas for a number of years. He later began employment for the Brock family with Trinity Auto Parts and completed 40 years of service for the company as their Operations Manager where his responsibilities included overseeing day to day operations as well as frequently traveling throughout the U.S. on their behalf.
He was a leader with the Royal Ranger Boys Ministry of the Assemblies of God for many years where he served in numerous leadership capacities at the local church, sectional, and district levels for the Gulf Latin and North Texas Districts of the Assemblies of God.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine Luna and siblings Jesse Luna, Robert Lira and Rosalia Luna.
He is survived by his Son Joseph Luna III, Daughter-in-Law Jennifer Lawrence Luna, Grand Children: Josie Elizabeth Luna and Jamie Leigh Luna.
Son Johnny Luna, Daughter-in-Law Elva Monreal Luna. Grand Children: Johnny Luna II, Amber Luna Buchanan, Justin V. Luna. Great Grandchildren: Jason Luna, Persephone Luna, Madelyn Buchanan, Emma Buchanan and Gage Buchanan.
Siblings: Frank Lira, Davis Lira, Roy Lira, Lydia Torres, Esperanza Maldonado and Guadalupe Escobar.
He was highly regarded for his strong work ethic, devotion to God, his love of the Royal Rangers Ministries and for his love of his outdoor hobbies of camping, fishing and hunting.
After retirement he was known to often provide landscape and handyman services for his elderly neighbors, friends and members of his church who had difficulty accomplishing those tasks. Although limited in formal education, he became a true scholar of the history of past U.S. Presidents and their administrations.
