Joe Nickodam

Joe Nickodam, 81 passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by his family on August 12, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, granddad, great-granddad, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger and a stranger never forgot meeting Joe. A private celebration of his life will be held on August 28, 2021, at 1:00 PM.
Joe was born in St. Charles, VA on August 8, 1940, to John and Hettie Nickodam and was raised in Virginia. He traveled to Texas when he was 18 where he met the love of his life Jackie Woodle and they married on June 22, 1962, and recently celebrated 59 years. Together they raised one son, Wesley and one daughter, Wendy.
Joe had a successful career at Safeway which he held many positions for over 30 years and ended his career as a route salesman for Otis Spunkmeyer.
Joe loved spending time with his family which included many events for his grandkids. Joe was an avid traveler with his wife, Jackie. They had a fifth wheel and traveled the US for the past 16 years. He also enjoyed woodworking and making things for the grandkids, bargain hunting and riding his tractor.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hettie Nickodam; brothers, John, Walter, Mike, Jack, and Charlie; sister, Annie; and his grandson’s wife, Sarah Nickodam.
Joe is survived by his wife, Jackie of Burleson, TX; son, Wesley Nickodam and wife, LeeAnn of Burleson, TX; daughter, Wendy Boots and husband Jim, of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Chad Nickodam of San Antonio, TX, Cory Nickodam of Austin, TX and Steven Boots of Westlake, TX; great-grandchild, Eric Nickodam. He is also survived by his sisters, Bertha Hicks, Helen Reasor, Mary Thompson and husband, Dewey Jr., and Cindy Thomas and husband, Sam; and hosts of extended family and friends.
