Joseph E. Walker, passed at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22. 2016, into eternity.
Graveside service: 3 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Born June 26, 1919, in Retta, just outside of Rendon, Joe is the son of Willie Andy Walker and Ola Mae Morgan. He spent his early school years in Westbrook. As a child of the Great Depression, Joe knew hard times. His father lost his job in 1929 and they were evicted from their home. Joe went to live with relatives.
In 1941 Joe was baptized in the Church of Christ and in the same year he joined the United States Navy. From 1941-1943 Joe proudly served this great country in WWII.
In 1943 he met and married the love and joy of his life Nancy Orr. He and Nancy enjoyed 58 years together. Together they served the Lord by running a Grocery Route to area churches gathering food and other items for Christ's Haven Children's Home. This labor of love continued for 20 years. Joe and Nancy Walker are most certainly a true love story and example for us all.
In 1948 Joe joined the Masonic Lodge in Fort Worth, Texas where he made may friends. In 1951 he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad where he retired in 1981.
Joe Walker is a fine man who lived a great life. He was most assuredly greeted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the words from Matthew 25:21 l“Well done thy good and faithful servant.” In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Christ's Haven for Children in Keller, Texas.
He was preceded in death, and now reunited with his loving wife Nancy and youngest daughter Sugar.
Survivors: He is survived by his eldest daughter Glenna Looney, his grandchildren JoAlice Sims and husband Steve, Brad Looney and Bryant Walker and wife Lori, five great grandchildren and many nephews and cousins.
