John Randall Day

John “Randy” Day was born on July 4, 1953 to Dennis Van Day & Patsy Ruth Shanks in Fairfield, TX. He graduated high school in Coppell, TX. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and hanging with this buddies. John was a roper in the Fort Worth rodeo when he was a teenager.
His first job was working construction for his stepfather’s construction company. He met the love of his life, Brandi Renee, when she was a receptionist for the same company. They married on May 4, 1978.
Just two short years later they had their first daughter, Jaime Lynn, on July 6, 1980. Followed by Misty Dawn on March 2, 1982 and Samantha Nicole on December 19, 1983.
After moving his family to South Padre Island in 1990 he began a remodeling company with his wife and raised his family by the ocean.
In 2009 John and family moved back to Grapevine where John would become the best Papa. He enjoyed picking kid up from school, taking them fishing and hyping them up on donuts.
John passed away in his sleep at home June 9, 2019 after losing his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by those he loved.


John was preceded in death by his parents Dennis Day and Patsy Shanks, and one brother; Joe Baker.
John is survived by his wife Brandi Renee Day, of 40 years. His daughters; Jamie Jaramillo, Misty Smith, and Samantha Day, seven Grandchildren; Jacob Torres, Madelyn, Zachary, and Joshua Jaramillo, Brooklyn Day, Sydney and Ryan Smith, four Sisters; Pam Poteet, Robin Baker, Jeanine Lopez and Suzanne Tunmire and a host of other relatives and friends.
