John Louis Drain, born October 24, 1943 to Francis Louis and Edna Drain.
He is survived by his wife Joann of 28 years; three daughters, Tracy, Kelly and Parker; son, Richard; three grandchildren Kyle, Christopher and Ellum; sister, Gigi; brother, Dennis; and many friends.
John was born in Kentucky and grew up in Maryland and Chicago.
He worked for Abbott Labs for 35 years and traveled the world. John retired in 2003. John loved life. He golfed and he danced to country music at his favorite place in the Stockyards, “Pearls”.
He was thrilled to entertain at football games, birthdays and Christmas parties every year. He dressed up as Santa for kids in Grapevine. He loved his Christmas lights. He always drove the neighborhood to make sure he has the most, and if not, he went back to the store for more lights and decorations.
He loved fishing in Port Aransas but his favorite was spending three months salmon fishing in Alaska and seeing old and new friends every year.
John loved everyone and everyone loved him.
He left us on April 26, 2022 at home with loved ones and friends by his side after seven years of health issues.
He will be missed greatly.
A private memorial service for John will be held.
