John Reed Hitchcock

John Hitchcock, 76 years old, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the
Lucas Funeral Home, Grapevine, Texas.
Expressions of Sympathy may be made to White’s Chapel United Methodist Church,
185 S White Chapel Blvd, Southlake, TX 76092
John was born on October 26, 1946, in Washington, D.C., to Wallace Reed and Mary
Louise (Walker) Hitchcock. He attended Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, MD
and the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
He married Terri Hitchcock in 1989. Prior to that he had been married to Peggy Gwin,
with whom he shared Jim and to Carolyn Hitchcock. John and Terri spent their early
years together in Maryland and then moved to Southlake, Texas in 1993, where Katie
and Reed were raised.
He was an insurance executive at Maryland Casualty/Zurich and TIG Insurance, as well
as a seasoned consultant to the industry. HE spent free time enjoying wine, family and
cooking.
John is preceded in death by his late parents and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Hitchcock; his three children and their spouses whom
he adored, Jim Hitchcock and wife Jeanette, Katie Fisher and husband Eric, and Reed
Hitchcock and wife Sara; 4 grandchildren with two on the way and innumerable loving
friends, family and colleagues.
