ANDREWS -- John Carlton Hobbs Sr. passed away from this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in Andrews, at the age of 89.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment will follow in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fort Worth. The family will receive friends 9 a.m. prior to the service.
John was born in Rowden on July 12, 1923. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1941 and worked for General Dynamics for over 50 years, retiring in 1992. He married Margaret "Peggy" Gresham on Dec. 31, 1946. Peggy preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1994. He married Katherine Brown in 1996 and she passed away in 2006.
John was a resident of Fort Worth from 1941 until health concerns caused him to move to Lubbock in 2010 and then to Andrews in 2011. He was a charter member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ in Fort Worth and served as an elder for 12 years. John was a very hard worker all his life. He had an intense love for God and his family. His life will live on through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors: He is survived by son, John, and daughter-in-law, Mary Etta, of Wylie; daughter, Londa Kessler, and son-in-law, Bob, of Andrews; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a sister, Lottie Beth Hobbs of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, LaFonne Hobbs of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
