John Dwayne Lance

John Lance, resident of Burleson, passed away on August 8th, 2023 at a nursing home at the age of 59 years.

John Lance was born January 28th, 1964 in Fort Worth, TX. He was raised in Everman, TX where he worked for the city for 18 years before moving to Joshua, TX. He worked there for the city for 5 years, later working in yard maintenance for 18 years at Crestmoor apartments, who he considered family. John’s pastime interests were watching football and baseball. To us, John was a human calculator. If we had a math problem, before we calculated it, he already said the answer. He also enjoyed collecting football and baseball cards.

He is survived by his sisters, Donna Odom, Sharon Horton, and brother Dustin Merritt, his nephew Eric Lance and wife Krista, nieces Duranda Walentiny and husband Cody, Candra Faulkner, Krista Odom, great-nephew Mason Walentiny, and great-nieces McKenzee Lance and Sadie Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his father, YC Lance, his mother Mary Merritt, and his stepfather Jim Merritt.
