John Wesley Lowry, 71, of Decatur TX passed away on October 8, 2021, after a 30-day battle from complications of Covid-19 in Ft. Worth, TX. Wes was born on July 17, 1950 in Klamath Falls, OR to Ray Winford Lowry and Elizabeth Louise Brisbon. Wes retired from Lockheed Martin after 28 years of service and for the last 6 years he was employed by Texas Central School Bus, driving for Keller ISD.
Wes is survived by his wife Lana Lowry of Decatur, TX, his 3 children, Tara Slocum and her spouse Cody Slocum of Aubrey, TX, Kristie Shanley and her spouse Spencer Shanley of Ft. Worth, TX, and Justin Lowry and his spouse Melissa Lowry of Ft. Worth, TX. His sister Linda Bergeron and her spouse Al Bergeron of Mabank, TX, his brother Pat Lowry and his spouse Sue Lowry of Warren, TX. His 7 grandchildren Corbin Slocum, Colby Slocum, and Calleigh Slocum of Aubrey, TX, Madison and Logan Shanley of Ft. Worth, TX, and Wyatt and Audrey Lowry of Ft. Worth, TX. His nephew Erik Kerr and his spouse Mimi Kerr of Mesquite, TX, and his niece Heather Lowry of Kemah, TX and several other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ray Winford Lowry and Elizabeth Louise Lowry, and his grandson Connor Chesley Slocum.
Wes took great pride in building F-16s and F-35 fighter jets during his career with Lockheed Martin. After his retirement he treasured his job as a bus driver for the students of Keller ISD. He was an extremely loving and attentive husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his country, was a very faithful Christian man, and always had a hug to give. Wes was an exceptionally hard worker and his willingness to help was limitless. The things he enjoyed most were listening to music, tinkering in the garage, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. The world is missing a great man and it will never be the same without him. Wes was loved by many, will always be remembered, and will be forever missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The visitation will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, October 15, 2021 at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, TX. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, October 16, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Willis Ln. in Keller, TX with Bishop Matt Kotter officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, TX.
