John Robert Milligan went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 24th, 2016 in Grapevine. He was 51 years of age.
Service: Friday, 1PM, at First Keller Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: The family will greet guests from 6-8 PM Thursday at Lucas Funeral home in Keller.
Robert was born on January 30th, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas, to John and Joyce Milligan Pierce. Robert was preceded in passing by his father, John Henry Milligan. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Keller Church.
Robert is survived by his wife Kim Milligan, son John Henry and wife Amanda, daughter Erin Vanek, son Trevor Currie and spouse RJ Silva, son Matthew Currie and wife Alexandra, and his mother, Joyce Pierce. He is also survived by his sister Stephanie Milligan Race and by granddaughters Jessica Vanek and Lily Milligan, the lights of his life. Robert is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Robert grew up in Hurst, TX, and attended Haltom High School. He graduated in 1982, and began working for his father’s truck repair company. From an early age, Robert enjoyed anything with wheels and speed, and began racing motorcycles and jeeps. In his later years, he spent many weekends at the racetrack camping with his race family from the Texas Cross Country Race Association, TCCRA, and the Texas Off-Road Racing Organization, TORO.
Robert spent the majority of his career working in Truck sales. He spent many years as a Salesman for Southwest International Trucks. Since 2008, he has been the corporate buyer for Fort Worth Freightliner (Penske). Robert was a long time member of the Used Truck Association (UTA), and he very much enjoyed the life-long friendships he was able to establish over his long career. Mark Suter, one of Robert’s dearest friends and the nearest he had to a brother, recently noted that “Industry has lost a man that can never be replaced.”
Robert’s true love was his family. Robert was never shy about professing his love and adoration for his wife of 14 years, Kim, nor was she shy about sharing her love for him. They were a perfect match for each other, and their happiness was evident for all to see. He also had special relationships with all of his children, but the most special were the bonds he had with his granddaughters, Jessica (15) and Lily (9 months). Robert was an avid supporter of Jessica, and spent many summers and school breaks with her while she worked on her passions of swimming and fitness. He was very proud of her accomplishments both in and out of school. As for Lily, Robert loved to hold her, hug her, babysit, and tickle her until she laughed so hard she snorted. He will forever be remembered as her Grampy.
