GLEN ROSE -- John Wallace Patterson, 52, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial: will be private in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas. The family requests no further personal visitation be forthcoming.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
John was born on June 30, 1960, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. He grew up in Arlington attending First Baptist Church, and graduated from Arlington High School. John went on to further his education at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, earning a bachelor of science degree in mechanized agriculture. He also attended a landscape design class at Harvard University, receiving the honor of "First in Design."
After graduating from college, John worked for Hill County Implement Company in Hillsboro, John Deere in Cleburne, and then moved to Glen Rose where he worked for Fossil Rim Wildlife Ranch. After leaving Fossil Rim, John transported wildlife across the country to zoos and ranches dedicated to the preservation of various wildlife.
Survivors: John is survived by his parents, Bob and Ruth Patterson of Arlington; brother, Robert Patterson Jr., also of Arlington; sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Gary Malone of Hurst; nephew, Justin Malone and his wife, Katelyn, of Austin; niece, Anne Malone Hillin and her husband, Patrick, of Euless; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
