With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Charles Peterson, a devoted husband, retired officer, and honored Air Force veteran. John passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, in Flower Mound, TX.
Born on May 11, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, to Augustus and Isabel Peterson, John dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community. His unwavering commitment to duty and honor was evident throughout his life.
John's family meant everything to him, and he is survived by his loving wife, Liezyl Peterson; together, they shared a bond that withstood the tests of time, a true partnership built on love and mutual respect; he is also survived by his children, Maria Peterson, William Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Christian Warner, Katelyn Peterson; and grandson, Cole Peterson.
As an Air Force veteran, John proudly served his country from November 17, 1961, to November 16, 1965, achieving the rank of E-3. His time in the military instilled in him values of loyalty, sacrifice, and integrity that he carried with him throughout his life.
A man of quiet strength and unwavering dedication, John Charles Peterson will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend. Everyone will remember him for his kindness, his sense of duty, and his love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services and ceremonies to honor John's life will be held at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery on Friday, November 8th, at 2 pm with a visitation prior at Lucas Funeral Home Grapevine from 11 am-1 pm offering family and friends the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable life of a true hero. May his memory be a source of comfort and peace during this difficult time.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel Ellen Peterson and Augustus Franklin Peterson; and brother, William Peterson
